Gov’t set to register all Private Security Guards

The government has commenced the process of registering private security guards in the country, in what it says is aimed at enhancing accountability and addressing longstanding human resource issues within the industry.
Through the Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA), government seeks to create a centralized database encompassing the entire private security workforce.
Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo, speaking in Kisumu on Friday during the launch of the registration drive, noted that the government’s intention is to implement a clear regulatory and supervisory framework.
According to the PS, the guards will also be issued with licenses that will enable them to practise in the country and even open more opportunities for them across the borders.
